To the editor:

Vote for a healthier planet. Vote “yes” on I-732.

By Aug. 7 this year we had used up all the natural resources the earth can regenerate in a year (www.overshootday.org). And, we’re taxing the earth’s systems by generating more carbon emissions that it can absorb in its oceans and biosphere.

Fortunately, this November you have an opportunity to make a positive difference for future generations by voting “yes” on Initiative 732. I-732 promotes cleaner energy by cutting sales tax by 1 percent, funding a tax rebate to working families, reducing B&O tax on manufacturing, and most importantly, by adding a tax to fossil fuel. Let’s make it more expensive to pollute our air and water.

I-732 policy can be implemented almost immediately to lower emissions without raising overall taxes. Vote YES on I-732 this November and take a stand against climate change and for our future generations.
