Iâ??d like to express my enthusiasm for the Gateway project and the Bainbridge Art Museum, which is an idea germinated by our island community. As such, it reveals what we value most: that our island is a place devoted to artistic expression, creativity, the environment and a positive experience for the many forward-looking families on Bainbridge. It could be thought of as a Cultural Campus, the first thing people will see when they come to our island, and a place for fun and inspiration for everyone. It seems to me that, as islanders, sustainability is key for us. Apparently the project team wanted to create something that will have a minimal environmental impact on the community but with maximum benefits as far as both cultural and creative longevity. There has been a long-term desire on Bainbridge to build an art museum that would be a permanent showcase for local talent. Fortunately, itâ??s really happening. Personally, Iâ??d like to thank those involved in the development of such a center on our island. What an opportunity for experiencing something of beauty and meaning in the arts right here on our home turf. I understand that this development is funded privately and is not costing our community a thing, other than our enthusiasm and hearty support. George Little Wing Point Way
