To the editor:
In response to “Seven other candidates make bid for governor’s race” (Seattle Times, July 29) only one clear winner stands out in the gubernatorial election this fall.
Jay Inslee stands out as the most qualified and practical candidate in this year’s race. His record on the environment especially demonstrates his concern for the future of our state.
Throughout his time representing our state in Congress, Jay voted to keep our state free from pollution and other environmental harms. Washington is one of the most beautiful states in the country and we need a governor who can protect our precious natural spaces. The Puget Sound Recovery Act that Jay co-sponsored during his time as 1st District representative is a fantastic example of how he has fought to protect the natural spaces he grew up in and ensure that it will stay clean for future generations.
As a high school student I participated in a letter-writing campaign to the Washington Congressional Delegation and the only personal response we received came from Jay.
I have complete confidence that as governor Jay will continue to protect our environment for each citizen in our great state. It seems clear to me that even though there are seven candidates, there is only one viable one.
