Bury the line
To the editor:
Puget Sound Energy has proposed a “missing link” of high-voltage transmission lines directly through our school corridor, both disturbing our wetlands and potentially endangering our children, with little regard for either.
As a resident with small children whose property abuts Sportsman Club Road, I am greatly concerned by PSE’s push to implement these lines. The environmental and health effects are sizable, without any evidential support to show this will improve reliability, and at great cost to us the consumers – with PSE both raising our fees and lowering our property values.
PSE should be burying these power lines, not adding more above-ground lines. We live in a densely forested area, no amount of above-ground lines will prevent trees from falling in high winds. They have the capability to bury lines that would greatly improve reliability while also protecting our environment and the health of residents and students near these lines.
Why are we still relying on old technology that will not solve these problems long-term? The true missing link lies in burying these lines.
