Summer fun

To the editor:

The Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District has wrapped up its annual “Movies in the Park” and our “Sounds of Summer” concerts at Battle Point Park.

What a way to finish—an estimated 2,000 people turned out to enjoy the music and vibes of the Kitsap County band “Backstreet Jellyroll” (whose lead singer Steve Nagle grew up on the island). The crowd’s dancing and swaying while singing “Sha La La La La La La La Ladidah” was the perfect way to cap off a successful season.

Our staff and commissioners wish to thank our event sponsors, especially Puget Sound Energy, Marshall Suites and the Bainbridge branch of the Kitsap Regional Library, for helping make these events such a success.

Thanks go out to everyone who came out to enjoy great movies and music on warm summer evenings. As the season advanced, islanders welcomed people from other areas of Kitsap County and beyond to share our fun. We hope to see you next summer.
