Bainbridge Island Fire Department’s EMS levy will sustain and make vital improvements to our emergency services here. If approved, the two unstaffed fire stations on north and south portions of the island will be opened and staffed with emergency personnel in accordance with the department’s Strategic Plan.

This increase in response personnel will allow us to respond quickly to emergency medical calls and better serve the entire Island.

The two key components that are necessary for a positive outcome in an emergency are time and staffing.

The current staffing of only one fire station with minimal personnel is significantly inadequate and impacts both our response times and our ability to respond to concurrent calls.

Despite the efforts of our outstanding volunteers, who supplement our full-time staff, changes in the island’s infrastructure, the increased population, and the increase of 31 percent in emergency responses is daunting.

With your support, the fire department can implement the necessary changes to provide our community with Emergency Medical Services.

Fire Chief Hank Teran,

B.I. Fire Department
