To the editor:

Down in Los Angeles, California, we were very shocked and saddened to learn of the death of our teacher and friend, Mike Anderson.

Growing up on Bainbridge, we worked very closely with him throughout our high school careers. Both of us were heavily involved in student government and leadership class. Mike worked with us as an advisor, a teacher and a mentor.

We feel so fortunate to have had Mike as our teacher. He was passionate about bringing pride and fun to BHS, he was supportive and he liked to give his students creative power. We wish all students got to experience class with him.

As an extracurricular teacher he didn’t get to work with everybody, but he will never know the impact he had on those that he did work with. For both of us, he taught us how to be confident in ourselves, how to be true leaders and of course how to plan crazy and fun spirit days and assemblies.

He was so invested in his students. He wrote both of us personalized notes when we left the high school. He participated in the assemblies and he was all ears when we came up with ridiculous ideas. He showed us nothing but kindness and happiness and taught us invaluable life lessons.

And let’s be real, no one pulled off the blue BHS polar fleece vest better than Mr. Anderson. Clipboard always in hand. Smile always on his face.

We would just like to thank Mr. Anderson for all the time he spent with us, working with us, guiding us. He will be greatly missed.

Sending our love and thoughts,
