To the editor:
I do not know whether Rod Stevens’ experience trying to get in touch with Representative Appleton is an exception or the rule.
I wrote three times to Representatives Appleton and Hansen on a property tax issue and I never received an answer (Senator Rolfes wrote back within a couple of days).
I planned to ask my question at the next meeting but was surprised to learn from Mr. Stevens’ letter that the next public meeting on Bainbridge would not be till next year. Mr. Stevens suggests six meeting a year, that seems fair and rational, especially, since some of the folks who represent us in the 23rd District seem to have no time to respond to our e-mails, or just receive too many e-mails.
If, however, this part-time job is too much and pays too little (how much is it anyway for how many days of work?), the Democratic Party must look for new blood, willing to live up to the term “Representative.”
