To the editor:
Regarding the Harbor Commission’s presentation to the city council: A new and improved public facility replacing Waterfront Park’s dock is long overdue.
This is an island with an abundance of water and residents need safe/adequate access for everything from sailing programs to mothers with strollers.
A visitors’ marina is an economic engine which brings significant amounts of money to main street. Why the chamber cannot see this is beyond comprehension.
I suggest the entire island get involved and support the few individuals trying to accomplish a miracle. You missed your chance to have a port — don’t miss this one or it will be at least another decade before anything happens.
