To the editor:
We came to know Anthony Oddo because he joined a delegation of Islanders interested in visiting our sister island, Ometepe. We are on the board of the Sister Islands Association (BOSIA) and helped organize the delegation’s itinerary.
We were impressed that on his return, he saw it as an obvious next step to involve himself with BOSIA, and has since joined the Board and serves as our vice president. If we had to say just one thing about Anthony, it would be that he steps up and involves himself in a way that makes a positive difference.
He is someone who commits himself to his community and works willingly to promote the greater good. He cares about all aspects of a healthy community, and dedicates himself to the work that is necessary to make progress in complex areas. Intelligent and confident, he also has shown he has that rare ability to pursue goals and yet listen to viewpoints that are important to the success of the end result.
Anthony will be a force on the council for respect, for accomplishing work in a way that does not assume that one person’s interests have to form the agenda, and for remembering that the Island has multiple aspects that need to be cared for to make a vibrant and sustainable community.
We know that Anthony will follow a path defined by a resolute focus on working for positive change. We look forward to voting for Anthony for city council this November.
