To the editor:
A police facility between five schools is a good idea to reconsider:
Given recent events the city should relook at building the police facility at the corner of Sportsman Club and New Brooklyn Roads, the original use this land was purchased for in 2000.
The new police facility at this location would significant benefit our community in terms of increased safety for our children attending the surrounding schools and property tax cost savings by forgoing a land bond to locate the police station elsewhere.
The locations proximity to our schools should be somewhat of a deterrent to potential predators of our children as well as afford almost immediate response time, even on foot, to potential incidents on the school campuses. Since the property is already owned by the city, no bond for land would have to be voted on and planning for construction could start immediately.
