Bravo to the Bainbridge Island City Council.
May and all months have been proclaimed to be Drive the Speed Limit months.
Why does this matter besides it is the law?
It matters because your family, neighbors, friends, and visitors walk, stroll, run, and cycle on public roads.
It is a wonder that drivers can be oblivious to community safety.
What is the rush? Drivers in a hurry should take a belly breath or move.
Safety for dog walkers, kids going to school, neighbors checking their mailbox or visiting next door, or shoppers, or commuters are surely more important than the few seconds gained by racing home or to the boat.
To be clear, Island roads are public right-of-ways. They are for all. Paid for by all.
Please allow the time to drive the posted speed limits or slower when warranted. It is your community.
