Generous residents of Bainbridge Island have powered the school supply drive of Helpline House’s Project Backpack yet again. Contributions rolled in filling backpacks with all the tools of learning – notebooks and binders, pens and pencils, calculators and crayons.
Students and parents are grateful for your willingness to invest in our children’s education. Our very own local citizens just “make it happen.”
Special thanks go to: Bainbridge Island Windermere for gift cards for school clothes; Jim Peek and his famous Tuesday evening car show donations; Ace Hardware for the reusable bags to pack supplies in; and all the island businesses who hosted drop-off bins.
Families of 183 students received backpacks, school supplies or gift cards for needed back to school clothing. They are all smiles and full of thanks as the new school year begins.
Our volunteer Project Backpack committee recognizes that many of us are bound by a fundamental belief in the importance of education. Thank you to all who donated and to all who helped!
