In his letter to the editor (“No-turn-on-red sign needs to be removed,” March 4), Fritz Feiten assumes that the 25 mph speed limit on Wyatt Way from Madison to Finch was put in place to satisfy “narrow neighborhood interests.”

Mr. Feiten fails to take into account the many children who cross at Weaver Road to access the sidewalk that runs only on the south side of Wyatt Way.

There are also many commuters who use that same crosswalk at pre-dawn to access the bus stop at Cosgrove. (What’s really needed is a stop sign on Wyatt at Weaver.)

At 35 mph, Mr. Feiten can travel that half-mile in less than 60 seconds. At 25 mph, it’ll take him 83 seconds. I suggest that he can afford 23 seconds to protect the “narrow interest” we all have in the safety of our neighbors and our children.
