Showing our hearts for great island parks | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

Are you seeing hearts at our local trails and parks and all over town? Those little pink signs are inviting you to send a valentine to the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation to support a thriving system of parks, trails, and open space.

As board members, our reasons for loving the parks foundation vary from one heart to the next. I know Frank Stowell is devoted to open space and has had a lengthy affair with the enchanting Blakely Harbor Park. Meagan Butler is crazy for trails and even committed to organizing the Trillium (trail) Run on May 12.

And, Glenn Haber is so head over heels for parks, he and his wife Nancy donated one to you, me, and every member of the Bainbridge Island community! If you haven’t already visited Moritani Preserve, get ready to fall in love again.

I imagine, there are countless reasons why our parks and trails matter to each of us and to you. Valentine’s Day reminds us to appreciate and show our love. We hope you will take a moment to consider your reasons for loving our parks, trails, and open space and that you’ll feel inspired to make a valentine’s gift to the parks foundation through our website at www.biparksfoundation.org. We’d love you for it!
