To the editor:
I completely support Tom Swolgaard’s re-election to the Bainbridge metro parks board.
I have observed Tom in action for a number of years at park board meetings and numerous parks committee functions through my involvement with the land trust and the parks foundation. He has always impressed me with his enthusiasm and support for the parks recreation programs which have helped so many kids and their families, and as a skilled architect he has a deep understanding of the many complex projects and operations that are ongoing in our wonderful and growing parks system.
And he has been a great supporter of trails, even granting a trail easement on his own property for a crucial leg of a cross-island trail from Winslow to Gazzam Lake — he really walks the talk.
Parks are a vital part of the island’s future. Tom has done a superb job as a parks commissioner, and we will need his experience and expertise over the next six years as he continues to serve the whole Bainbridge community so effectively, and I might add, all without pay.
