Taste of Lynwood another big success | Letters | Oct. 7

The Lynwood Center Neighborhood Association wishes to thank everyone who joined us for the 4th Annual Taste of Lynwood on Sept. 17.

The Lynwood Center Neighborhood Association wishes to thank everyone who joined us for the 4th Annual Taste of Lynwood on Sept. 17.

The annual event is an opportunity for neighborhood businesses to give back to the community that supports them year-round.

Lynwood Center gets transformed into a block party and street fair that welcomes everyone to see old friends, make new ones and enjoy some of the best musicians in the region performing in an intimate outdoor setting.

This year, more booths than ever lined the street and the family area was a big hit with children and families. And for the older and braver kids, they tried their luck at the mechanical bull and dunk tank.

This year’s event had two exciting additions: the finish line for the 2nd Annual Bainbridge Island Triathlon sponsored by Island Fitness and the “buskers” stage, which hosted local musicians during the Main Stage set changes.

A highlight of the day was watching and listening to a new band called Blacklight, made up of four Bainbridge middle school students who captivated the audience while they rocked out like a headliner at Bumbershoot.

We plan to expand the second stage lineup next year and hope to have a few more emerging local artists blow us away.

There are many people who made this year’s Taste of Lynwood a success including a dedicated group of volunteers who performed invaluable tasks before and during the event.

And we wouldn’t have been able to present Taste of Lynwood without the enthusiastic support of our sponsors, including: The Treehouse Café, Historic Lynwood Center and Steve Romein, Windermere Real Estate, Fairbank Construction, O’Connor Architects, Pane d’Amore Artisan Bakery, RBC Wealth Management, Bay Massage & Skin Care, Walt’s Market, Marilyn McLauchlan, and Advantage Nissan.

We also want to thank Zero Waste for helping us increase composting and recycling.

And a special thank you to event director Maura Ahearne and the roughly 4,000 people who came out over the course of the day and made us feel good about putting on such a show.
