Veterans need Inslee to support our needs | Letters | Oct. 1

As a disabled veteran, I get concerned when hearing our Republican friends say veterans shouldn’t get support from the government because they “knew what they were signing up for.”

Yes, we knew. We were promised a GI Bill, medical care and support for service connected disability, the appreciation of a grateful nation, and a few other things spelled out by federal law.

There are some who honor the commitment our nation makes to service members. Folks like Jay Inslee.

Rep. Inslee recently gathered representatives from the VA, Tri-West, and National Record Service.

About 60 people attended to hear the VA speak about changes to Agent Orange qualifications and background on PTSD; NARA speaking about getting records from National Public Records and Archives; and representatives from the Navy Shipyard, IBEW and others addressing the hiring of veterans.

Despite the naysayers, we need to re-elect a man deserving of our vote – Congressman Jay Inslee.
