To the editor:
I am writing in support of write-in candidate for the Bainbridge Island City Council Central Ward, Cynthia Bellas. I am not a “special” person that lives on this beautiful island. BUT, I love this island. I love its character. I love the trees, the wildlife and most of the people. I feel, like Cynthia, that new growth needs to slow down or we will lose these special attributes.
Cynthia got in this race because of the struggles of 550 Madison, resistance to the plans for the Winslow Hotel and finally, because of the vote on Suzuki. One council vote tipped the scales into pushing the plan forward and it if its goes ahead, will seriously affect the resources, traffic patterns, trees and wildlife. She is for affordable housing. She supports Housing Resources Bainbridge (HRB) and reasonable development.
Cynthia Bellas is against the Suzuki plan for a lot of the same reasons she is against a 85-room hotel and amphitheater. Slow down, folks, and vote for someone that is not beholden to anyone or plans to run for higher office. She is a strong woman and willing to stand up for us and the good of this island. Write-in Cynthia Bellas for Bainbridge Island City Council Central Ward.
