The Bainbridge Performing Arts Theatre School will host two special audition workshops for adults from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 and July 8.
The workshops are strategically designed to help actors prepare for BPA’s Combined Mainstage Summer Auditions, which are slated for July 20 and 28.
Participating students will receive individualized coaching on audition material and presentation from BPA’s resident musical director Josh Anderson and director of education Zandi Carlson.
The workshop is held in two segments, with Part I on July 1 and Part II on July 8.
Students may sign up for Part I or Part II individually, or for both classes for a more well-rounded audition preparation experience.
In Part 1, both instructors will give each participant a tailored 10-minute individual consultation to assess their strongest choice for presentation at BPA’s Combined Mainstage Summer Auditions. They will help select a 32-bar cut of a song and a short monologue that showcases each actor to the very best of their abilities and they will ensure that these selections are the ideal fit for the shows for which each actor is auditioning.
In Part 2, students will present their prepared audition material and receive feedback from the instructors, both of whom will guide students through a crucial set of auditioning skills including how to best present yourself as you walk into the room and how to communicate with the accompanist as well as additional ways to connect with your material — even with audition jitters.
Tuition is $35 per session for students who sign up for one class. Students who sign up for both classes will receive a discounted tuition rate of $50. Instructors will contact each participating student prior to their initial session to gather information to help facilitate a customized consultation.
Students are highly encouraged to bring possible songs and/or monologues in for an assessment of which option is most effective.
