Island Center Hall will host a sock hop and ice cream social from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at the hall.

The sock hop is an annual event, and the night will feature a DJ mix of oldies and goldies. Singles and couples, adults and teens are welcome to dance to Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, Blues, West Coast, Night Club 2 Step and Latin selections.

Dancers are invited to get into the spirit of the sock hop by dressing for the 1950s era.

Before the dance starts at 8 p.m., a swing workshop mixer will be held at 7:15 (free with admission to the dance).

The DJ will take requests, and dancers are welcome to bring their own music. Dancers: Please wear shoes kind to the hall’s wood floor. Bring your favorite ice cream and/or toppings to share.

Admission is $10 at the door. There will be a dance contest and prizes for the best costume.
