Arts & Humanities Bainbridge and The SoundArts Project, in partnership with the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce, will host Arts In The Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 2.
The event will feature local and regional artists painting, drawing, and/or sketching in Waterfront Park, and will be raising funds for the arts community on Bainbridge Island.
Artists will be volunteering their creative abilities, producing one or more pieces during the four-hour period on the lawn, and visitors can watch as works of art take shape before their eyes. The newly created pieces will then be offered at a silent auction at Summer Showcase at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. that same evening.
All auction proceeds will benefit AHB’s Individual Artist Fund, which empowers local artists with the means to pursue their passions.
“Our mission at Arts & Humanities Bainbridge is to support aspiring and professional artists as well as provide opportunities for artists to prosper, our youth to learn through art, and the community to engage in collaborative events,” said Anne Smart, executive director of Arts & Humanities Bainbridge.
“By collaborating with the SoundArts Project and the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce on Arts In The Park, we’ll help showcase the arts and the artists by creating a vibrant, attractive place to live, work, and visit,” she said.
Arts In The Park will also feature an art sale, flash portraits, chalk drawing, live music, a wine-and-beer garden and local food selections, all at Waterfront Park.
