The Battle Point Astronomical Association and it’s kids arm, BPAstroKIDS, will host a fun-filled, out-of-this-world family event from 3 p.m. to dark Saturday, April 29, at the observatory in Battle Point Park in honor of Astronomy Day.
Observatory tours, astronomy programs, children’s activities and an interactive solar system walk will be scheduled throughout the event, with night sky observing of the planets and other celestial objects (weather permitting) to follow.
All Astronomy Day activities are free, though donations to help cover costs are welcome.
Experts from the Battle Point Astronomical Association and BPAstroKIDS will be on hand to provide lectures, site tours, kids activities, solar observations and night sky observing. BPAA will also be raffling off a telescope to new members.
Weather permitting, Astronomy Day visitors will be able to view the sun through special filters, revealing sunspots, flares and prominences.
