Bainbridge Performing Arts will host auditions for its upcoming production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” on Tuesday, Sept. 12 and Thursday, Sept. 14.
Take a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book, and featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (“Mary Poppins”), “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” is one family-friendly blockbuster that is “Truly Scrumptious.”
The show’s run dates are Dec. 1-3, Dec. 8-10 and Dec. 15-17, with a pay-what-you-can preview on Nov. 30. Rehearsals are from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, from Oct. 7 through Nov. 27.
“Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” includes roles for 12 to 13 men, ages 13 and up; eight to 10 women, ages 13 and up; and six to eight youths, ages 9–12. Those auditioning are requested to prepare a 1- to 1 1/2-minute monologue, and 32 bars of a classic Broadway song.
An accompanist will be provided but those auditioning must bring sheet music; clearly marked and in a three-ring binder. No outside accompanists or a capella singing, please.
