Gig Harbor writer Lance Weller visits Eagle Harbor Book Company at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 to talk about “Wilderness.”
Thirty years after the Civil War’s Battle of the Wilderness left him maimed, Abel Truman has found his way to the edge of the continent, the rugged, majestic coast of Washington state, where he lives alone in a driftwood shack with his beloved dog. “Wilderness” is the story of Abel, now an old and ailing man, and his heroic final journey over the snowbound Olympic Mountains.
Bainbridge Island author Jonathan Evison, whose book “West of Here” was also set on the Olympic Peninsula, will join Weller in a community conversation about “Wilderness.”
Eagle Harbor Books is located at 157 Winslow Way East.
