Seven Bainbridge High School band members were selected this year by the Washington Music Educators Association to perform in the 2020 All-State Bands.
More BHS band students were reportedly chosen this year for this honor than ever before. Students painstakingly rehearsed independently and submitted their auditions for review, officials said, and the selected students will travel to Yakima for this year’s WMEA annual Honor Groups Concert, from Feb. 14 to Feb. 16.
The honorees this year are Gianna Dewey, All-State Symphony Orchestra (French horn); Ian Gray, All-State Concert Band (tuba); Kelsie Lacey, All-State Concert Band (B♭ clarinet); Nicolas Lofgren, All-State Jazz Band (tenor saxophone); Cayley Mead, Wind Ensemble (baritone saxophone); Elana Memke, All-State Concert Band (tenor saxophone); Lila Schroer, All-State Concert Band (bass clarinet).
Also, Gianna Dewey (French horn) and Lang Armstrong (alto saxophone) were chosen to participate in the Western International Band Clinic.
