Bainbridge weekend packed with holiday events

‘Tis the season, and Bainbridge has a lot to offer. This particular weekend is jam-packed with holiday-related events.

Red for the Holidays

A group exhibition at The Gallery, 151 Winslow Way (nonprofit Bainbridge Arts and Crafts’ venue for regional artists) is part of this month’s First Friday Art Walk from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 4. For info, call 842-3132 or visit www.bacart.org.

More downtown Winslow galleries participating in the Art Walk include A is for Artists, Director’s Gallery, Ginger, Island Gallery, Roby King Galleries with a small works show, and Upstairs Gallery at the Pavilion.

Also, Bainbridge Bakers at 140 Winslow Way, features an exhibit of Christmas cards designed by Bill Kooreman that spans 30 years worth of work created as fundraisers for the Children’s Hospital Guild and Helpline House.

“Wings” is an exhibit of bird-inspired meditations in monotype, mixed media and collage opening in the Marge Williams Center conference room, 221 Winslow Way West.

Island Music Center

The Faculty Concert Series kicks off at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at IMC Concert Hall in Rolling Bay with a solo performance by pianist Akiko Iguchi.

Christmas in the Country

The 16th annual Bainbridge Island Christmas in the Country runs the entire weekend Dec. 4-6, from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday. The free tour features 100 artists in six venues and includes arts and crafts, live music (with after-hours concerts at Island Music Center), food and photos with Santa.

Countryman Stables will offer free pony rides for kids from noon – 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Kitsap Humane Society will be there also noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, for adoptions and microchipping.

Shuttle bus service is $5/day on Dec. 5 and 6 with service to the ferry. Park-and-Ride lot is at Woodward Middle School. Details of and a map can be found at visit christmasinthecountry.info.

Winter Studio Tour

Ovation!’s Fiddler

“Fiddler on the Roof” will run Dec. 4-20 at the Bainbridge High School Theater. Performances are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $15-$22 and are available at Winslow Drug, or online at www.ovationmtb.com. Info: 842-0472.

Winery Tasting

Holidays on the EDGE
