Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network will offer two new certificate-of-craft programs: Beginning Woodworking and Advanced Jewelry Apprentice, with classes set to start Sept. 30.
“Our goal is to help young adults and people in work transitions to find meaningful careers through learning hands-on craftsmanship,” said Nanz Aalund, BARN certification program coordinator.
Free information sessions will be offered at BARN from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 and 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.
Students will learn through classes, guided and independent studio time, and participation in BARN’s community service projects, and will progress through three quarters, gradually moving into more advanced application of needed skills.
Upon completion of the nine-month program, students will have a portfolio of work to show to prospective employers and a network of people who can vouch for the skills they have developed.
Career advising and tuition support is available.
