Dave Fong, astronomer, and Steve Ruhl, BPAA president, will lead “Advanced Amateur and Observational Astronomy.” Topics include constellations and the celestial sphere, stellar and galaxy evolution, making vs. buying telescopes, astrophotography, image processing, computer programs and using computer-controlled telescopes like the 27.5-inch Ritchie.

If weather permits, there will be stargazing after class.

The four sessions are 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays at Ritchie Observatory, Battle Point Park. The cost is $39; students must be 14 or older, and the series is open to the public.
