Best Bets for July 26-28 | The Bainbridge Blab

While cinephiles will do doubt beat feet to Bainbridge Cinemas for the latest — supposedly penultimate! — offering from Quentin Tarantino (click here for show times), there are some other things going on round the Rock for those seeking to be out and about.

First, “The Salon: A Forum for Conversation” will return to the Bainbridge Public Library at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The Salon is a monthly discussion group hosted by the library. It meets on the fourth Friday of the month, and the discussion usually continues until noon. Organizers say the gathering is for men and women who enjoy stimulating conversation and wish to learn from others in civil discourse. Topics vary, but the mode will be general interest subjects that impact the public. The Salon promises conversations that will be energizing, fun and thought-provoking.

This month’s discussion topic is “Intended Change That Results in Unintended Outcomes.”

The Salon meets in the library’s large conference room; all are welcome and admission is free.

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art will host the latest in a series of free summer break “Art in Action” sessions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday (and every Friday through Aug. 30).

Guests will join teaching artists in the museum’s galleries and create make-and-take art projects.

All ages are welcome and no preregistration is required.

Visit www.biartmuseum.org for more information.

Ranger and the Re-Arrangers will play a special free outdoor concert, on the lawn outside Bainbridge Performing Arts, joined by special guest Kate Powers at 6 p.m. Friday.

Powers is an amazingly talented young violinist from Sequim, said Re-Arrangers frontman Ranger Sciacca. At just 19 years old, she already has a unique sound, very fluid and creative.

She started with old-time fiddle music, and studies any genre that comes her way, including Gypsy jazz, bluegrass, classical, Irish, Romanian, Klezmer, Texas Swing and more, he added.

Powers graduated high school in 2017 and hopes to earn a degree in jazz performance from the University of Washington.

The concert will feature music from Ranger and the Re-Arrangers repertoire of swing standards and traditional Gypsy melodies.

Admission is free, though the band will collect donations.
