Get in a little exercise as you rub elbows with the creative masterminds behind your favorite gallery’s new exhibits. First Friday Art Walk runs 6 to 8 p.m. at various venues downtown. For some cool jazz, drop by Island Gallery, where fiber art is the way and Anne Pell and co. will be playing.
Bryan John Appleby took up balladry and then traded it for theatrical orchestral pop. So he’s a man of many talents. And Emma Lee Toyoda is all of 20, but she’s got a unique nostalgic sound. Sway along at the Space Craft show, 8 p.m. Saturday at Rolling Bay Hall.
Trash is Steve Parmalee’s treasure. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, the assemblage artist will teach you the ins and outs of found-object art, from sourcing materials and conceptualizing to construction and finishes. Each participant will create a unified sculptural piece from a pile of salvaged items at the end of the BIMA class. All skill levels are welcome. Registration is $75 here.
Need some landscaping inspiration? Grab your tickets for the Bainbridge in Bloom tour, which showcases five island oases from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. As an added perk, each garden boasts live tunes.
