Too much wine? Maybe not last night, but at the wine store, where it’s often bewildering to choose something good, a plethora can be a problem.
Not anymore.
In his new friendly guide book, “36 Bottles of Wine,” now on sale, vino expert and Bainbridge Island resident Paul Zitarelli curates a shortlist of 36 bottles to try (three varieties per month — a red, a white, plus something else, like a sparkling or rose) and explains in an accessible, humorous style what and who makes each worth drinking.
In addition, 30 included recipes make monthly meals that connect seasonal food to wine, composing beautiful sensory experiences.
Zitarelli, Seattle magazine’s wine writer since 2013, writes about a lot of wines: Hundreds each year as editor-in-chief of award-winning Full Pull Wines, the Seattle-based storytelling retailer he founded in 2009, and dozens more in his role for the magazine.
In 2015, he earned the diploma qualification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, putting him well along the path toward becoming a Master of Wine.
His other diploma, Applied Mathematics from Harvard, he uses less frequently.
Zitarelli lives on Bainbridge Island with his wife, two young children, and one skittish cat.
