Jones Jazz Experiences will present two Pacific Northwest contributions to the celebration of International Jazz Day, including one at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art.
Organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, in partnership with Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz and celebrated in more than 190 cities around the world, International Jazz Day pays tribute to the art form of jazz and its power to promote dialogue among cultures, embrace diversity, and deepen respect for human rights and all forms of expression.
At 6 p.m. Friday, April 27 award-winning performing/recording artist Eugenie Jones will headline the BIMA show, sharing the stage with Seattle’s living musical legend, pianist Overton Berry, internationally renowned saxophonist and flutist Mark Lewis; bassist extraordinaire Bruce Phares; and the incomparable D’Vonne Lewis on drums.
