Bainbridge Performing Arts will hold auditions for “Matilda: The Musical” on Sunday, July 28 and Monday, July 29.
The magical story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny is based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book.
Run dates are December 6-8, Dec. 13-15, and Dec. 20-22, with a pay-what-you-can preview on Dec. 5.
Rehearsals extend mid-September through Dec. 4 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:40 to 9:40 p.m., plus Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The musical includes more than 20 roles for ages 6 and up.
Those auditioning are requested to prepare a one to 1 1/2-minute monologue and 32 bars of a contemporary Broadway song. An accompanist will be provided but you must bring sheet music — clearly marked and in a three-ring binder. No outside accompanists or acapella singing will be permitted.
