Andre Feriante and the Bohemian Entourage will present “String Stories,” a special one-night-only concert event at Bainbridge Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 10.
Andre Feriante and The Bohemian Entourage bring a very unique and compelling sound to the concert stage. Their stylings include Spanish influenced music combined with Bach, Leonard Cohen, jazz standards, East Indian rhythms played with Feriante’s creative banjo and ukulele techniques and fiery South American songs. Improvisation, humor and storytelling are a big part of the concept behind the creation of the Entourage.
The group comprises an amazing pool of talent from many different cultural roots.
Though he has previously played on Bainbridge Island, Feriante said this is to be his first concert at BPA. Having enjoyed many visits to the island in the past, he added, he was excited to finally hold a concert in downtown Winslow, a favorite place of his to visit when in Seattle.
“I’m actually really happy to finally play for the folks there,” Feriante said. “I love taking the ferry over and spending the day in town.”
Feriante said that although the musical styles of the show vary between cool and mellow and exciting and upbeat, the concert was meant to have a “kind of message of calm.”
“It’s about a feeling of the music, a pulse,” he said of his often improvisational work.
The special concert event will begin with a performance piece in which Feriante begins to read a poem and slowly incorporates music throughout the piece.
Tickets are $12 each ($10 for children). Visit www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org for more information and to purchase.
