Harper Emily Groff with the golden voice performs at Seabold Community Hall on Saturday, April 13.
Groff sings and plays traditional Celtic music on the folk harp. Her voice is expressive and nimble, her playing precise and evocative. She is mostly self-taught, though she studied for a time under vocalist Nancy Cox and harpists Gaylord Stauffer and Jeannie Chenette. Her first job was as a 14-year-old roving musician at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. This performance will also include a selection or two on her newest instrument, the mandolin.
An acoustic music open-mic begins at 7:30 p.m. (sign-ups from 6:30 to 7) followed by the featured act.
Play or pay $5; kids admitted free. Coffee, tea, bottled water and cookies will be for sale.
