Bainbridge Island documentary filmmaker Steven Keller will give a pre-screening of his recently completed documentary “Invisible Young” at Islandwood on Saturday.

The documentary tells the story of four young adults who were all homeless as teenagers in Seattle. Described as loose follow-up to the 1984 Academy Award-nominated film “Streetwise,” “Invisible Young” examines youth homelessness from the inside out.

The showing is at 7 p.m. June 23.

“The four main characters in the film tell personal stories that will both break your heart, yet are inspirational at the same time,” Keller said. “I wanted to do a film about homelessness, but I really ended up doing a film about the resilience of the human spirit.”

The screening at Islandwood will be the first chance for locals to view the film, and it may be one of the only chances before Seattle International Film Festival next year.

Tickets to the screening are $27 and reservations are required.

There will be deserts and a no-host bar at the event, and Keller will speak after the film.
