Waterfront Park Community Center hosts “Galapagos Adventure!” at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Come explore this fascinating archipelago and its remarkable inhabitants with presenter Sue Hylen, the arts and cultural manager for the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District.

Details for the 2014 spring trip will be shared with stories and photos from the 2013 Bainbridge Island Galapagos trip.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

The 2014 Galapagos Adventure is co-sponsored with the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District and is 13 days long, from March 26 through April 7, 2014.

The spring tour is land-based, with a comfortable hotel each evening after a day of exploring the islands, viewing the incredible animals and birds, sailing, snorkeling and swimming. The multi-lingual guides are Ecuadorian and have extensive knowledge about the history, culture, flora and fauna of Ecuador.

Highlights include a snorkel outing at Kicker Rock (view hammerhead sharks, manta rays, and red-billed tropicbirds); a hike to Sierra Negra volcano on Isle Isabela, the largest caldera of all of the Galapagos volcanoes; a trip to the top of Pinnacle Rock on Bartolome Island, considered the most beautiful view in the islands; and a chance to observe and photograph the unique-to-each-island Darwin finches, blue footed boobies and Galapagos penguins.
