GreenStage, Seattle’s longest-operating Shakespeare company, will celebrate its 25th season in 2013 with a visit to Bainbridge Island.

The company will give a free performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at Battle Point Park.

Faries, elves, sprites, star-crossed lovers, dukes and duchesses, and a motley band of actors get into all sorts of mischief in the enchanted forest of Athens with their magic potions, madcap schemes and amorous intentions. Plus, there’s a guy who gets turned into a donkey.

The production will be directed by Ken Michels.

The Bainbridge show is one of nearly 60 performances in 22 different parks that GreenStage will present during its silver-anniversary season. GreenStage is devoted to fostering an appreciation for live theater and inspiring audiences to engage in live theatre as part of their recreation. The organization is committed to presenting quality productions of classical theater in a manner that is available to all, performing for free in order to reach the largest audience possible.
