Gretchen Yanover will visit Bainbridge Island for a performance next week at Seabold Second Saturday. The performance series welcomes the Seattle-based cello player for its next show on Saturday, June 11.
The classically trained musician began playing the cello at 10 and continues to play classical music as a member of Northwest Sinfonietta, a chamber orchestra.
She performs with her electric cello, and loops her cello sounds to spin amazing music.
Her newest release is “Waves Wash Over Us,” an eight-composition CD. Yanover’s many other recording credits include performances with Northwest Sinfonietta, and on songs for Skerik’s Syncopated Taint Septet, Tift Merritt, Thaddillac, The Stares and Built to Spill.
Open stage performances at Seabold Second Saturday begin at 7:30 p.m. (signup from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m.), followed by the featured act.
Admission is play or pay $7; children get in free. Coffee, tea, bottled water and cookies will be for sale.
