Join KiDiMu and GreenHalloween.org in a national costume swap through Oct. 30 at KiDiMu. Save money, clean out your closet and make the world a little greener by donating gently used Halloween costumes, pieces or accessories and exchange them for something new to you. You can select a costume without donating and donate costumes without taking any.

Pumpkin Walk
Bainbridge Gardens presents its 18th annual Pumpkin Walk, a fun, festive, family-oriented event from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 21-22 at the Gardens, 9415 Miller Rd.
There is no admission charge but donations for attractions benefit the Bainbridge Island Boys and Girls Club.
Walk along the historic nature trail, glowing with a grand display of nearly 300 lit, carved pumpkins. Kids enjoy winding through the Harvest Hay Maze and jumping in the inflatable bounce house. Have your picture taken with the ‘Great Pumpkin’ or tap your toes live music from “Strings Du Jour.” The Bainbridge Island Boys and Girls Club provides face painting and carnival games with prizes. Dress for the weather. Costumes are optional.
Look for signs on Miller Rd. indicating shuttle pick-up/drop-off locations.

The Unspooky Show
See animal puppets come to life as acclaimed storyteller Susy Irwin shares whimsical stories and songs, filled with not-so-scary Halloween spirit at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Dave Webb will open this free show with a selection of American folk classics for kids. Sponsored by KiDiMu and Cooks Family Funeral Home.

IslandWood’s HOWL-o-ween
Always a HOWL-ing good time for the whole family, the seventh annual HOWL-oween celebration is from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at IslandWood.
Transform your pumpkins into wacky, fascinating characters as IslandWood’s celebrated kitchen team share their own techniques and inspirations. Listen to scary (and not-so-scary) tales of ghosts and goblins by the fire in the Great Hall. Walk along the haunted pumpkin patch trail on your way to the Welcome Center. Staff will be there to greet you and show you where the different activities are located.
Pre-registration is free, but required of all ghouls (and princesses, firefighters, scuba divers, pirates…) We love furry companions, but please leave yours at home (unless they are your children dressed as Muppets).

Your Worst Frightmare
Join the brave souls who dare to make it through the 2011 Bainbridge Island Metro Park and Recreation District haunted house – Your Worst Frightmare – from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 28-29. What’s in dark basement of the old Transmitter building at Battle Point Park, 11299 Arrow Point Dr.? Follow the signs along State Route 305 and Miller Bay Rd. This experience is rated PG-13 and not recommended for younger children.
A lights-on, no gore, no-scare “Monster Matinee” will be offered for those younger or feint of heart from 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 29.
Tickets are available at the door for $5 per person, or $10 for a “three times as brave” re-entry bracelet.

Wilkes Halloween Carnival
The 26th annual Wilkes Halloween Carnival will be from 12:30-5 p.m. Oct. 29 and will feature games for young and old, prizes, cake walk, face painting and the famous Haunted House, created by Wilkes fourth graders.
Tickets are 50 cents each or $20 for a wristband and $15 for each sibling, that gets you in all the games. All proceeds go toward funding the fourth grade outdoor education program.
