Shocking dramas — both real and chillingly possible — will be featured in two upcoming author visits at Eagle Harbor Book Company in downtown Winslow.

First, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, former Secret Service agent Clint Hill and award-winning journalist Lisa McCubbin will stop by the shop to discuss the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

It has now been more than 50 years since JFK was assassinated in Texas, but the story — and the mysteries — still linger. Hill, who was in the presidential motorcade during the shooting, and McCubbin will be discussing their books (“Mrs. Kennedy and Me” and “Five Days in Nove-mber”) each recalling this momentous time in American history and the poignant life of Jacqueline Kennedy from very different and unique perspectives.

Call the bookstore at 206-842-5332 to preorder the books and/or reserve a space for this event. Seating is limited.

Then, at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 19, catastrophe is order of the day as Seattle author Sarah Alisabeth Fox and Port Orchard scribe Dwight B. Crawford visit to discuss their respective visions of disaster.

Fox will discuss her book “Downwind: A People’s History of the Nuclear West,” an unflinching account of the effects of nuclear testing and uranium mining during and after the Cold War.

Crawford will talk about his novel “Goodbye, Seattle,” which explores the anarchy a husband and wife must face after a large terrorist attack on Seattle.
