Bainbridge Performing Arts will hold auditions for “The Merry Wives of Windsor” Saturday, March 4.
Embraced by audiences as one of Shakespeare’s most delightful plays, this most merry and English of comedies centers on the lovable rogue Sir John Falstaff. Hard up for money and seeking to restore his riches, he sends identical love letters to two wealthy wives. But the wooed Windsor women see through his schemes and set him up for some hilariously sweet revenge.
The show, to be staged outdoors at Bloedel Reserve, includes roles for five or more women, ages 20 and up, 11 men, ages 20 and up, and three youth, ages 12 and up. Those auditioning are requested to prepare a 1- to 1 1/2 minute comedic classical monologue (pre-1900s) for their audition. Some characters in the play do sing, so those auditioning may be asked to sing a snippet of their favorite song a Capella.

Run dates are July 7-9, July 13-16, July 20-23, with a pay-what-you-can preview July 6. Rehearsals are May 6 through July 5; at 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
