‘In the Spirit’ presents tales for the season

Bainbridge-based Island Theatre will present an evening of dramatic readings of holiday season staples by some of the group’s favorite actors at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Bainbridge Public Library.

The program is free and open to the public; donations are appreciated.

The lineup includes pieces by such literary luminaries as David Sedaris (“Seasons Greetings”), Anton Chekhov (“At Christmas Time”), Leo Tolstoy (“Papa Panov”), W.H. Auden (“For the Time Being: A Christmas Oratorio”), Alfred Lord Tennyson (“Ring Wild Bells”) and Dylan Thomas (“A Child’s Christmas in Wales”).

The program is directed by Tell Schreiber.

Founded on Bainbridge Island in 1994, Island Theatre’s mission is to provide quality theatre, geared toward mature audiences, onstage and in less conventional venues, through plays that challenge performers artistically while both entertaining and intellectually engaging audiences.
