Bainbridge Chorale will join 33 local ensembles for the second Seattle Sings chorus festival, held at Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Capitol Hill from Thursday, Oct. 8 through Saturday, Oct. 10.
Performances will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday night, featuring a mixed repertoire of heritage, world music, folk, gospel and classical music from six area choirs.
On Friday, two of Seattle’s premier children’s choirs will take the stage. Four modern ensembles will follow, with the last group performing at 9 p.m.
Saturday’s performances begin at 10 a.m. and finish at 9 p.m., with choral styles ranging from barbershop to offerings from some of Seattle’s professional and semi-professional choirs and the island’s own Bainbridge Chorale.
Admission is free.
At intervals on Saturday, event host, the Greater Seattle Choral Consortium, will celebrate the music of four Composers in Residence: Reginald Unterseher, Vijay Singh, Giselle Wyers and Brian Gallante.
Each composer will provide a work to be sung by a mass choir brought together from the performing ensembles that day. The composers will then lead the choir in a final performance.
