The Bainbridge Island Photo Club will have its Education Night meeting Wednesday with special guest Shaun Swalley.
Swalley is a Bainbridge photographer who has lived on the island for about 15 years. Raising a family here, photography became a way to creatively engage and capture emotion in moments, and find a soulful experience in connecting nature and people.
At the meeting — 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9 in the senior center’s Haney Hall at Waterfront Park Community Center — he will be talking about making soulful images in the landscape, home or street.
“Mindsets” help Swalley identify and shoot what he’s looking for, he explains.
Swalley will also share thoughts about some of the artists and images that have inspired him, notes on getting creative with gear, and a little about processing and picking images.
The second half of Education Night will be centered on members showing “Market” images using a 50mm lens only. There will be a video on the advantages and use of the 50mm lens, “Street Photography: Using the 50mm Lens.”
