Eagle Harbor Book Company will host a fun political process party at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 21, along with other bookstores around the country, featuring debates, party platforms and even a mini-convention — the end of which will see the people’s chosen crayon emerge victorious.

Hands-on activities like crayon mazes to get to the speech on time, designing a campaign sign for your favorite crayon and drawing pictures in unexpected colors will take place. All ages are welcome, but debates and platforms are geared for kids ages 8-11.

What topics are important to crayons?

Maybe you want Blue for President, but why? Maybe the supporters of Blue can debate why dragons might be blue and not the usual green or brown or black?

Maybe Blue thinks that blue school buses would be safer?

Then there is Red, who might run on the platform that people need to have more adventure in their life?

And Orange and Yellow want to debate the topic: What is the real color of the sun?

Afterwards, all the delegates will get a chance to vote for their choice of Crayon-in-Chief.

They will also receive an “I voted” sticker.

The bookstore will send the results to the election center in New York.

Results will be announced in November.

Your child can sign up to be a delegate and learn more at www.eagleharborbooks.com.

The event is free and open to the public, and parents and caregivers are welcome to join in.
