The work of Claudia McKinstry will take center stage at Bainbridge Arts & Crafts in July.

McKinstry calls her paintings “a visual story, about what we see every day and either ignore or take for granted.”

This exhibition misses none of her favorite themes, encompassing not just technical mastery but an expansive worldview, a fascination with travel and an abiding love for her own backyard.

“Claudia has been a working artist on Bainbridge Island for almost 45 years and a BAC artist for 35 of those,” said BAC spokeswoman Georgia Browne.

There will be a special artist’s reception at BAC (151 Winslow Way East) from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 1, and the exhibition will run through the end of the month.

McKinstry said of her work, “I have deep roots here on Bainbridge Island, but in the past few years have had the opportunity to do some traveling and some of those experiences I share with you in these works along with slices from my life here at home. This is a rather eclectic collection of paintings, all with stories and heartfelt personal experience, with a hopeful respect for the beauty, mystery and complexity that exists everywhere.”
