The Island Film Group will screen what members call possibly the finest example of film noir ever made at the group’s next meeting.
IFG will host a free presentation of the classic movie “Touch of Evil” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Bainbridge Public Library.
A Universal Pictures picture from 1958, the stylish thriller features Orson Welles — who also directed and wrote the screenplay — and a constellation of other stars, including Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Joseph Calleia, Akim Tamiroff, Marlene Dietrich, Dennis Weaver, and Zsa Zsa Gabor.
In the film, Welles portrays a corrupt detective in a Mexican border town with a shady past that slowly comes to light.
A discussion will follow the film.
