Live, Carnegie Hall-caliber guitar music in Bainbridge? On a Thursday night? For free?
Yes to all of the above.
Guitarist Craig Alden Dell, who has toured extensively throughout the world and played at Carnegie Hall twice, will perform in the third concert in the Summer Lights concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 at .
Dell, who now lives near Seabeck and teaches at Olympic College, is a master of both flamenco and classical guitar. In San Jose, Costa Rica, reviewers called him “a seasoned and sensitive artist with uncompromising taste.”
According to the London Times reviewers, Dell’s playing shows “the many varied facets of the guitar as a concert instrument.”
For this concert, Dell has teamed up with local pianist Carol Estes. Estes, who plays and directs the choir at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church, will open the concert with Bach, Chopin, and Debussy.
The Summer Lights concert series is a lineup of short summer concerts designed to make fine music available to audiences west of Seattle.
The concerts take place in the redesigned sanctuary at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church at Madison and Winslow Way, and they are free to the public.
